fading...fading...ouch!

Trying to clean up the end of Metal tune...the idea is to have the tune fade out to nothing during a heavy, deep, repetitive chord series. Unfortunately, in the middle of this line, the guitar player grabs a pinch harmonic.

When it was played live, it sounded great but now during the mix down, and during the fade out, it gets a little lost and now sounds more like a ghosty booboo.

I've tried E.Q.ing it but it's simply not going away.

Any thoughts?
 
If it's a repetitive chord series, just cut and paste from another section.
 
I gave that a try...what I got was these little hick-up like bumps...didn't come out very smooth. These are very broad/sustained chords with lots of over-tones.
 
If there is any silence, try doing your cuts there.

If not, zoom in to the max. and make sure the cut is at a zero crossing. Then try playing with a cross-fade where the splice(s) is.

I get what you're trying at...I think I've got something workable now...brought one of the other voices forward a bit...backing up before the fade out starts...cover it, slice n dice it.

The problem is, I know it's there. I'll polish it a little and have someone else have a listen.

That was actually my first whack at it...unfortunately, this part is rather exposed. Put a little whole in it and it jumps right out at you.

But thanks for the thought.

I've been working in a clip from from an earlier part of the song and cross fading between the two over the top of this blip. I think it's going to work out.
