I have a Yamaha N12 Desk with only one Auxilery send.
I was wanting to use this to feed monitors for the vocals etc.
I have EZ drummer running in cubase and I want to send ezdrummers signal to a channel (as it alredy is ) and then run this out (by itself) to a powered speaker so only the drums are coming through the 15 inch powered speaker that i have for listening to the drums while playing, trying to save my small but great Yamaha NS10's from a reaming.ie(ABUSE).

Can I use the Insert I/O from the drum tracks channel to send a signal into the speaker. These seem to use a biodirectional TRS connector, but if i use a TRS connector from the Insert I/O on the mixer (tip is hot and sleeve cold ) to a TS connector into the Powered speaker ( tip hot and sleeve cold.)

Would this work .
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm a fellow N12 user and I use Superior 2.0 with some of the EZX expansions.

Are you using cubase with your N12?

I use a cheap headphone amp with 4 channels, it has 2 stereo inputs. I run the AUX Phones out to one channel and the CR Phones out to the other. This gives me 2 headphone mixes to select from on each of the 4 channels of the headphone amp.

If you create an AUX buss in cubase you can then use it as a send effect on any channel in there.

Otherwise just route the ezdrummer playback to channel 9/10 or 11/12 and use the AUX knob on that channel to send the signal to the AUX phones out and hook up your powered speaker to that.

Pretty simple if I understand your question correctly

as far as I know the insert points on the N12 only work with analog signal while you are recording, so you can plug in a compressor or a gate there while tracking bass or drums or a vocal.

I think I read somewhere the insert point is bypassed when playing digital signal from your DAW (cubase) back out to the N12 because the signal is coming down the FW cable back into the mixer.

I should add you'll want to uncheck the L/R buss switch on the channel you send EZDrummer to, that way it'll only go to the AUX phones out depending on how high the AUX level of the EXdrummer channel is, this will save your monitors from a pounding
