My cover band is reuniting for a one-time performance. We used to do some sequencing & sampling of keyboards, horns, percussion to fill in the gaps (2 old ensoniq keyboards).
Since I no longer have the gear or midi files, my plan for the reunion is to try to purchase cover versions of the songs, and remix them on my Windows PC for playback during the show.
I assume I'll need to buy the software, plus an audio device that has multitrack output (4 should do it I think) to feed tracks to the soundman and a click track to the drummer.
My question is, what should I buy for hardware and software? I just want basic multitrack mixing capability that will run on Windows XP, and a place with a wide selections of cover versions for purchase. I don't want to go broke here.
The whole project is ad-hoc. I'll probably sell everything after the gig. Any thoughts?
