Extigy for 5.1 mixing only?

I have this wacky idea and I am wondering what opinions are as to whether or not it will fly.

I have software that is capable of mixing in 5.1 and encoding to AC-3. I want to start messin' with surround sound.

So, first lemme say that I am happy with my current soundcard (Delta TDIF) and don't want to replace it. I was thinking I could get a soundcard that supports 5.1 for monitoring surround mixes only - but then thought that I might run into conflicts betwixt the two soundcards. Don't want that.

I was checking out the Extigy and I see that it is 5.1 capable and it is USB.

If I get this bugger, couldn't I just plug it in to the USB, point my software to that soundcard when I am working with surround stuff, and voila? (of course, I know I need a 5.1 speaker system too)

My Delta won't freak out if the other soundcard is USB, right? At least that is what I am hoping. And even if it did, just unplug the Sound Bastard, right?

Any response that helps wins a hot date with Gidge. And Gidge does not wear panties under his skirt.

I would imagine that would work out ok.
My Logic 5.5 supports 5.1 surround in a bounce down but I have never tried using it as of yet.
