External Mixer??????

I recently talked to a friend who says that he read something about a external roland mixer that would work with Cakewalk 9, thus eliminating the need for the keyboard or mouse. Sounds excellent, but has anyone heard anything about it? I hate using the mouse.

Theres also a standalone midi controller/mixer thing called the MCR-8 (i think) also by roland. i didnt see it listed on edirol's site though.
