I'm not aware of any problems with those in Mac OS X, but they do have a low rating on Amazon and epinions due to high failure rate and very short (90 day) product warranty. Are you sure this thing works?

What Mac model? What version of Mac OS X? What problem are you experiencing?

It works fine on my windows machine, never had any problems there, but there aren't any drivers for the mac. On the macbook, sometimes it loads, sometimes it doesn't.

I will mention this to anyone who is considering this: It doesn't have an on/off switch which is a real pain in the ass.

I had a feeling you were going to say Macbook. My... grandmother's cousin, I think... has one, and she has one USB port that is less reliable for certain things than the other. You might see if the problem goes away when you use the other port. Worth a shot, anyway....

As for your particular issue, I'm not sure what's going on, but my guess is that it's a UHCI driver bug. Apple historically always used OCHI because it requires less CPU overhead, but the Intel chipsets all include UHCI ports instead, so it's a whole new set of drivers under the hood for the USB controllers.

Make sure you're using the latest software update, as I think there have been some UHCI-related changes already, though I may be wrong. If the problem doesn't get fixed in the next couple of updates, let me know, and I'll file a bug for you. :)
