External Equivilent to the Delta 44?

Hi - I'm using a desktop pc with a Delta 44 sound card in my home studio at the moment. For various resons, I'd like to use my laptop as the main recording interface instead of the desktop pc.

I realise I will have to buy a new external card to do this, but i've looked on the m-audio website and I can't seem to find an external equivilent of any of their cards. Does M-audio or any other company sell such a thing? Or am I just not looking hard enough?

MOTU makes a Firewire interface but laptops are pretty pitiful when it comes to multitrack recording.

Although probably not being shipped yet, M-Audio has the firewire 410 interface. Not really a Delta 44 equivalent (only 2 analog inputs and unbalanced, not balanced) but since you were asking about M-Audio...

Did you see the M-Audio Quattro? It is very similar to the 44 but is a usb interface. If you want to take a risk with usb then it is what you are looking for.
