we are rewriting the book . . .
tools/mixdown audio
at this point (CPA 9) you can choose the s-card you want to mix down with and where you want to store your audio mixdown. I highly recommend mixing to file first and then saving said file. When you feel good about your file mix, export it to a different folder for mastering.

The Cakewalk manual and help system do a pretty good job of describing it. There's also a FAQ on Cakewalk's website:

Mr. Garrigus is being modest. Run to your nearest good bookstore and buy his book Cakewalk Power - I picked up more info quicker reading through it than I did going through the manual several times (and the manual is pretty good as software docs go). Very nice....
