We've been recording our debut album at our sound engineer's studio. He's got a Roland 2480 with the latest OS. He's recently decided that he doesn't have time to record for us anymore. :(

Now we decided to finish our album in Cubase, but he doesn't even seem to have the time to transfer our files for us. So now we're trying to find somebody in the area who can lend us his 2480 for a while, so we can transfer the files (luckily, we have our own dedicated 2480 hard drive at the studio). After this step, we want to be totally independent from anybody, so we want to transfer everything as clean as possible.

What would be the easiest way to go about transferring the files? Transfer them over ADAT? Use the export to wave function? Is there anyway to directly access the audio on the hard drive without the involvement of another 2480 machine?

Still need those 2480 files transferred to wavefiles???

If yes, contact me, and I'll tell you what you'll need from the guy who recorded you.

If you send the files to me I can import them and transfer to wavefiles for you.

I've performed this MANY times for MANY customers.

There is no other way to obtain the audio unless you have a 2480.

Falcon Eddy

how about from a vs840?

I have an old VS 840 and i was woundering if there was a patch to turn my "vs" tracks into WAV. format. The vs 840 records onto zip disks and i was told there was a patch to load onto my PC, allowing me to hookup a zip drive and convert my files and load them into my PC. I have been looking for this patch but, alas, i think i was misinformed, and this patch does not exist.

right now i load my tracks, one by one, onto my puter and it takes forever, and then i need to sink them up again.

i am doing my final mixing using sonic foundy "acid" and need a better way to load up my live tracks. any ideas?????

thanks

I agree, take Falcon up on his offer, he knows what he's doing!

Falconeddy: thank you very much for your offer. But a surprising solution has come up: we called Roland Benelux for more information and they offered us to come over to the workshop at the main office. They gave us a 2480 for the day and explained us how to do it ourselves. The exporting thing takes a very long time and we're kinda happy we didn't pay studio time for what is in essence a trivial task. :p

We're going to have to go back for 1 more day and then we should be finished. Very well impressed with Roland customer service here, especially considering we're not even customers in the strick sense of the word...

But thanks for the offer.
