anyone out there have an explorer, or could look at one and tell me where the strap pegs are positioned?? also if you can help me out could you let me know what year yours is from, just to compare...

(ive almost completed my custom explorer-ish and was curious as to where i should put the pegs)

The strap BUTTON is on the back of the neck joint, like on an SG. The other is straight back from the bridge above the jack like most guitars.

have you seen any guitars with two back buttons, ie.. one at the bridge as well (well in the wing at least)?
 
The original explorer has the neck strap button on the side of the body on the edge -- if you're wearing it, the giant wing is under your right arm, goes down the "hourglass" shape, and when it comes up the small ^ shape it is between the top of the peak and the bottom where the body joins the neck -- it is like this from the 1958 -1983 -- only the re-issues after that have the button behind the neck joint like an sg or hamer standard.
