Recording Modus Operandi
I heard an effect in a movie that sounded like you would be hearing if you were exposed to the noise from a blast. Everything sorta sounded like you were in a chamber. It was in the series 'LOST' when Echo and Charlie were trying to blast open the door in the hatch. Excellant work. It created a 'real sense' feeling with the scene.

Does anyone know how to create that effect?

just put an eq on whatever you want to do it to, cut all the highs until it sounds muffled...you could also put a small chamber verb on it additionally

I was going to make a facetious comment about standing near dynamite but restrained my self.
It would be an interesting effect to use after a loud passage or dynamic peak in a piece - though heart attack, paranoia or both might result.

How about adding that post-gig ear-distress effect where your ears hear noise ducked by your heartbeat?

personally I prefer the sound from a flash grenade...the way it's done in video games like Rainbow Six.
Where all you can hear is this high pitched ringing that seems to go up. I always thought that was cool.

I tried to do that after a fun Iraq incident and this is what I found. EQ both lows and highs out totally, use a ring modulator at about 14K , and Q mos tthe bass out. take all that and resample it with some plate verb and short delay

Pretty damn close.

Thanks for the tips. Think I'm going to try it out in the middle of a song after leading it up to an explosion.
