How should i treat this room? In front of the couch is the "control room" behind and to the side of the couch is the "tracking room" and the vocal booth is the iso booth. I have 24 1x1 Auralex foam panels, adn 12 1x1 curved diffusers. i can build absorber boxes, but where should i place them? i've read all the saecollege material, i'm just not sure of how to apply it

Thanks

Any takers?

c'mon, you guys, this is a piece of cake for you... help a man out!!!

thanks!

Chris :D ;) :p

First off, you need to get rid of the parallelism of the wall and get baffles into your corners to reduce bass(lf) build up. Hang angled baffles above the mixing area. Add foam everywhere you can in some artistic manner, yet listen to how it sound before finally tacking it down, not too dead, not to alive...thats all I have right now, those are just basics...

Good Luck

so now that i have foam up on the wall behind the speakers, where should my next move be? insulation in the ceiling? absorbers for the standing waves? diffusers? bass traps?
and i can't move the walls, or build new ones, so how do i combat parralelism?

next i was going to install some sort of insulation inbetween the studs to help absorb some sound, because this is the basement of a townhouse but i read somewhere else that i would just be wasting my time. arrrggghhh... this whole thing really frustrates me. i just like the fun of recording, this design and math stuff is not for me, but it's not an option, i reckon. is there a good book out there that really walks you through the whole process??? i would flip if i found one.

ANY help is most appreciated

ok, ive started to map out my room's standing waves, and i've got some questions. A) i've got a drop ceiling that is 7'3" from the floor and the real ceiling is 8'5" from the floor. which one do i count? the drop celing is a 1/2" foamy typical drop ceiling material, so i don't know if it "counts".

also, if you take a look at my control room, i sit about 1/4 or 1/3 of the way back from the front wall. how do i figure out what nodes i need to be aware of for that length?

thanks
