I have a mac g3, lots of memory, a midisport4x4, keyboard and drum machine. The next items on my list are a sequencer and sampler. What im looking to do is experimental/noise/live sound manipulation, that is why i loved having a four track, it was easy to understand, and i always had full control...im looking for this feel, while opening up other possibilities a computer can offer (looping, etc). The problem is im not sure what will allow me to do this. Ive considered buying Digital Performer, and a motu828...a Roland sp808 (is this similar to the EZbus?)...and an akai sampler. But im not sure exactly what these are or if i would need any of them if i was using DP3. And if i had DP3, would i be able to manipulate the sounds live? I have givin up on trying to be thrifty, but there is really only so much i can spend at one time.
Thanks!

If your into noise get a synth thats tweakable. Tops on my list are Waldorf Q and nord modular. if your on a budget the micro q is absolutely unreal. And also, maybe look for an actual analog synth, like a modular system. Doepfer and Analog Systems modulars start atv $1,500. However theres stuff like the evenfall minimodular, a pared down unit at $600, and its analog. Theres alesis andromeda too.

If you get a sampler get a "real" sampler. One that you can make a keymap and actually play the sounds with pitch. the sp 808 and the su 700 do not do that.

So, get dp-$500
Micro q-$750
Sampler, yamaha a3000 or emu esi 2000:$500
And maybe a real analog synth like the evenfall mini modular.

If you can afford the q rack GET IT!!!!!!!, just start twisting knobs and adding effects on that thing and you will make the most amazing sounds.

the mirco q and rack look awsome!! thanks for the tip!
