Expensive Instruments and Equipments just for this?

Do you guys actually spend like atleast $200 and like $1000 just to get into maintstream pop or music?
 
i've spent around $1200 this year alone and i'm just a small fry, not even trying to get that 'pop' or 'mainstream' sound
 
What does that even mean?

No. Stop the insanity. The secret to getting into like mainstream pop or music is simple and way cheap. You never like hear about it because the microphone manufacturers are aliens and control like everything, even the like government and stuff. HAVEN'T YOU SEEN ALL THE MICROPHONES LIKE EVERYWHERE WHENEVER THE PRESIDENT TALKS? Microphones have like mind meld control of the president and the whole like government. Why do you think expensive microphones are bigger than cheapo computer mic's? They have to have room for the invisible ray mind control device that shoots out the invisible rays into your brain that make you think that the microphones are like worth a lot of money and like sound better and stuff. The aliens don't care about cheap computer mic's because they think only like losers and stuff use them.

I learned the truth and dumped all my expensive gear... I mean I had spent like over $200 ON JUST AUDIO GEAR!!!! Now I know the truth. When I'm not in my specially protected room I protect myself from microphone brain wave control with my aluminun foil helmet. Now that I can finally hear the true non-alien brain control sound of like mainstream pop or music I've discovered the secret to the best sounding microphone ever made. Use hundreds of earbuds held together with rubber bands and splice their cables together going to one plug. One earbud doesn't sound very good used as a microphone. But two hundred all together make it 200 times as good and way better than a U87 brain wave controlling mic. You want a cardioid mic? Twist all the earbuds so they point one way. Want an omni mic? Twist the earbuds so they point all around.

NO WAY!......dude don't listen to these guys being all mean and like sarcastic and stuff....You can like totally get into mainstream pop for like $199 tops. ;)

I spent over three dollars this year. Don't let that discourage you. I'm just like you - i put my pants on one leg at a time. The thing is - when my pants are on, I make GOLD records, baby.
 
:D This thread is fricking hilarious. But somebody should tell him so he knows. Fella, at least a couple people here have well over $100 000 invested in their studios. $1000 is a very modest budget to get anywhere near a half-way decent quality home recording, much less a commercial recording.
