I'm trying to figure out a cheap way to use the digital inputs on my DPS16. Musiciansfriend has a Fostex VM08 8-Channel Digital Mixer on sale for $200. I figure I can use it to take advantage of the SPIF input on my recorder to record 10 tracks at once. 10 tracks at once would be sooo nice.

Has anyone used one of these. What's everyone's thoughts on Fostex equip. Is it crap? What about this specific device? Thanks.

Not even close to the quality you will get from the art dio, or the new vx2000 from behringer with spdif

Ive got 8 mic pres I could use all of them at once If I wanted to that Akai rules.

Yes you can but you need a a/d converter to get the spidif input to work with a mic.

I read that the DPS16 could record 10 tracks at once as well. I didn't read anything about needing any special devices needed to this...did Akai "accidently" forget to mention this??

2 of those tracks are spidif in, without an a/d converter theres only 8. Im kind of wondering about the SP VTB2, or the roland MMP2 to do this chore.
