Expander or gate, and on what?

I was tweeking with the expander on the behringer composer on some kick tracks, and i was gettin sum killer results as opossed to using the gate. Im thinking that expansion would work really good on drums, and vocals. It gust sounded much more musical (more natural)or cleaner than the gate.
What do you peeps favor more?? and on what instruments??

Me too! I also prefer its expansion function as it provides a more
hyped and spacious process to the signal.
Granted I don't use it on drums, I like the way it add's more presence on actual and synth horns and percussive instruments.
I employ the gates sparingly with a slow release when mic'ing
amps, vocs& the like!.
