Can an exciter or maximizer be used between the mixing board(preamp) and the A/D I/O ? Will this improve the sound quality of the recording?
I am a newbie.Any input is appreciated.

If you want to hear a sample recording.

Let me know and I'll email you the ftp site.

you can.. but Id put it between your SOURCE and your MIXER. But try em both and get back to us.

Aren't these typically used at the end, during mixdown, to make up for losses along the chain?

Exciter/Maximizer

I'm using Cakewalk 9.0 and the A/D I/O is
gadgetlabs Wave/824. I am using cakewalk for final mixdown.

Are you sayng Al that I could loop from the 824 into the maximizer into the 824 for the mixdown of the tracks?

I am still figuring out the cakewalk...
I am fairly happy with the results...
Please listen to this mp3 and tell me what you think...
Thanks...
