A record deal, on my terms with a major label.

If I get that and a successful record, I can get everything else I want.

Roland Fantom X8 (game over)

Yo Change, wouldn't you rather have a major distribution deal for your indy label? Bigger slices of the pie, and complete creative control????? That's what I'm shooting for with the artist I have signed to me.

That's why I said "on my terms"...lol..

I've walked away from two deals already, because I wouldn't give up my piece of the pie. ;)

Good move, A lot of catz wouldn't do that with money, carsa, and bling dangled in their face.....I was saying don't you want a distribution deal, as opposed to a record deal?

I'd definitely take a ditro deal for the label. I'm not opposed to it at all.

The thing is, the deals weren't coming with money, cars, and all that... One wanted to change my image, put me in shiny suits like Mase and Puff, and what not... I wasn't having it.

Another label offered me a deal on the condition that they obtained 100% creative rights over the music, and they maintained control of the lyrics, and masters. I wasn't having that either....

I make more than enough coin in the 9 to 5 to support my family, so I don't have to sell out on my music to do that, Thank God.

So, I'm patiently waiting for the right deal to come along. I'm faithful it will come.

the distribution deal is good if you have your own label..but jusy an artist you want the whole thing from the label..but dont sell yourself short or give up control of whats yours..they came to you cause they like your music..dont let them change you..just cause the throwin cars, bling-bling and some money in your face..doesnt mean it a good deal..

things to think about when offered a deal...

you want 100% of control (creative rights)over your project, keep your image, money(LOL), and keep atleast 50% or all of your master along with other things to make sure the record label isnt makin a mint off of you and you are getting screwed..

For rappers, image changing/creative control usually isn't an issue. Nowadays majors aren't picking up any rappers who haven't already proven themselves regionaly. Meaning they've moved 15K or more indy units, or getting major weekly radio spins, with a strong local buzz...It would be commercial suicide to ask them to change thier image upon signing a deal. That would totaly alienate the fanbase that got them the attention of the label in the first place. I'm surprised at that first offer you got Change, that makes no business sense at all. Those who know you know your the total opposite of the Mr. Shiny Suit, leather vest with no shirt rapper.
