I am just trying to get a line on wether I would want to consider them for my next compressor or pre???

I assume you're talking about the latest versions of Malcolm's designs... which have yet to hit the street? If so, they have yet to hit the street... so any opinion is a bit premature.

Malcolm Toft's previous work? Well some of it sounds bloody amazing, some of it just "upper OK". I have never heard anything Malcolm's done that I thought was total shit... but who knows... maybe the new stuff won't be as good as his previous work... or maybe, just maybe, it'll be better than anything he's ever done before.

Only time will tell.

I just saw the whole line...
Man, that ATC-2 looks the deal! Too bad the cheapest European dealer (Soundsense in UK) keeps the list prices for the Toft stuff, whereas the Studio Project prices are very competitive.

Example:
the new C4's have a US streetprice of US$369-379.

the DUTCH price of the C4's is +/-$750!!!!!!!! (€ 684)

Soundsense's price for Dutch buyers is around $450 (€410), which I think is reasonable... Still a tad on the high side, but not as ridicoulous as www.helios.nl

A freakin' SP B3 costs $275 in the Netherlands! C1 = $400!!!

Wow! Can you say bend over..

Is it tariff that make some countries so sucky or what?

F.S.

No, but for some reason Dutch retailers don't go along with the US system of List price and Street price.

They just copy the List price and that's the price. Period. Usually in a store you get 10% discount, and since I'm a regular at my local small shop I can get 15-20% discount (20% only when buying more than $1500).

But really, when you're a gear whore, the US is a great place to live.

For instance, Boss OD-3 pedal= $76 at humbucker music, $130 in the Netherlands.

Think yourself lucky.................the OD-3 is $289Aust.......that is $187US List.

The guys at Soundsense are very cool and I'm sure would negotiate a price with you? They are probably showing the SRP (MRRP) price because of the fact that have not hit the street yet?

I still think they seem reasonably priced for 'higher end' gear.

Come and try the Toft Pre's or Comp's

If you're visiting the Production Show at Olympia in London between 20th and 22nd May you can try the Toft Audio kit out on our booth, number 492, along with the full range of Studio Projects mics, and a few other goodies thrown in for good measure.

Oh and you can have the chance to win a Studio Projects C1 microphone in our prize draw.

Best wishes

Sorry for the delay in replying to this one.

The reason behind only showing the list prices on the Toft Gear is a) There is no stock yet, so we can't sell any.
b) When stock starts to flow, no doubt we will be able to offer some "deals"

But bear in mind the Toft gear is not going to be as "mass market" as the Studio Projects kit, so don't expect massive discounts.... hey, a guy's gotta eat!

Welcome on board Derek, really cool of you to take the time for this.

Anyway, besides SP, Toft and some others, do you guys also happen to sell TL Audio stuff and perhaps Joemeek (as soon as Alan Hyatt releases the 'new and improved' Joemeeks)?

Also, as you ship to Holland, how would thinks work with VAT and customs? Would I have to pay 19% Dutch VAT to you guys, and then you send it to me, with no additional costs? Or do I pay English VAT? (that 16,5% right?)

I'm planning to buy a pair of SD condensers (most likely the Røde NT5's or SP C4's), a cool single channel channelstrip (Toft EC-1 maybe, TL Audio 5051 Ivory 2, Joemeek VC1Q or Focusrite Voicemaster Pro) and maybe some mic stands and a shockmount for my SP B3...

Do you sell Røde as well?

Hi Speeddemon.

In answer to your questions, yes we shall be selling Joe Meek as soon as Alan can get the gear shipping. We have an excellent working relationship with Alan and the guys at PMI Audio, and so we will continue to concentrate on those product lines as we know we get the support we and, ultimately you need.

Yes we can supply Rode if we absolutely have to, but we probably can't be that competitive on price.

With reference to shipping out of the UK, we are happy to ship anywhere you want, as long as you're prepared to pay. In the EU there are no import duties to pay, and VAT is charged at the point of despatch (i.e. the UK) at the local rate (17.5% for the UK). We charge shipping, which on a pair of C4 microphone is around £20.00, or approx. 28 Euros.

At the moment it's very interesting for those living in the "Eurozone" to consider buying from the UK as the Euro is very strong against the £.

It's probably best to contact me off forum with your specific requirements.

Best wishes
