Anyone ever used one of these?

1. Does it really boost the signal that much? 20db is a lot for a passive device.

2. Is it really as quiet/clean as the site claims?

If both answers are Yes, then I have several uses for the darn thing! Anyone tried it?

I have no idea what its like, but I'd like to point out that its not passive - its phantom powered. The next question is do you trust it with keeping phantom power away from your ribbon mic?

I've only heard a few comments about them and the opinions have been varied. What I suggest is contacting Cascade and asking if there's a return policy for the unit just in case you're not satisfied with it.

Yeah. It's not a passive device. It's a phantom-powered inline preamp. If MsHilarious had designed it, I'd be tempted, but not a Chinese-made device from Cascade... not without lots of rave reviews and detailed noise specs, THD at typical input levels, etc.

Given that the only THD figure they publish is at maximum output level and that it's a whopping 1% (more than three orders of magnitude higher than the pres in my Peavey mixer), I'd expect it to probably be dog horrible. :D

Oh, never mind about the Chinese-made bit. It's made by Røde, not Cascade. Still, the specs are woefully insufficient to tell anything at all about the sound quality....

I"m sure it is just a simple Dual Opamp Curcuit with 20db of gain ,Sould be very easy to build yerself.....

:D
