Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has ever had any luck getting a replacement/repair parts for their MXL mic?

I have an MXL V900 that fell over on the stand and the plastic saddle mount that connects the capsule to the support rod broke. I have contacted MXL by phone (voicemail) and email and no response.

I get that it is a low end Chinese mic, but is very disheartening to have to throw it away because of this cheap part. Anyone have any ideas? Is there another source for these things? I thought about gluing it with epoxy but the way it broke is at a sharp angle and don't think it will work.

Thanks for your help!

Mine have never failed or broken. What plastic part on it broke? You got a picture of it?

Here is a photo. In all fairness to MXL it wouldn't have broken on it's own. I knocked it over and was at fault for the damage. Just hoping to purchase a replacement part.

That can be epoxied but a replacement part would be best and a very easy fix.

I have some, but am in the UK.

Try posting up at GroupDIY.com. Some of the guys there will have one and I'll bet there is someone closer to home who can help. Drop me a line if you don't get any joy.

Cheers!

Chunger at groupdiy who just orchestrated a massive groupbuy of Chinese microphones and I think he **may** have spares. (I don't frankly know how the hell you did that. ) Are you in N. America? I also have a spare saddle that would likely work. I have a few but don't recall what capsule they fit. I am pretty sure some of them fit a 32mm capsule dual backplate like that, which I am assuming that is. If not, I'll have one (with the capsule too) soon enough

I won't be able to get to it till early February though. PM me if Chunger can't help. You just need the saddle not hte whole mount.

BTW, be careful you don't muck up the capsule with greasy fingers or anything, and the mylar on the business end is thin and under tension and very delicate. Don't ask me how I know that.....

Thanks for the help guys! Yes it's a 32mm capsule. I can take a photo ata better angle to show how it attaches (4 screws).

Will check out groupdiy too.

No real need - anyone who has it will recognise that bit.

When you make the swap, be really careful not to over-tighten those screws. They are very easy to snap, which is not good!

Guys - thanks for the advice. I just wanted to follow up and say that I was able to contact Roy from MXL on another forum and he totally hooked me up. Thanks Roy!
