hello. i used to use a pair of event tr-5ns for a while, and i liked them. i sold them to upgrade to the tr-6ns or tr-8ns, but i've been reading good things about the YSM1p. i am not able to test the yorkvilles myself, so i'm asking anyone if they can compare them for me. thanks.

Yo Jon of "da" Ghetto:

I had a pair of York passives=pretty good monitors for the $$.

Then, I got a pair of KRK ST8 passives=better than the Yorks and about the same $$$

The KRKs have an 8 inch woofer--the Yorks, only a 6.5 inch woofer and in the famous words of Flip Wilson, "It do make a difference!"

If I were you, I'd give a listen to the KRKs or move on to a different level of quality==your ears won't lie.

do you have any experience comparing the events to to krks?

:D Yo Jon:

No, I have never compared the KRKs to the Events. I don't read bad things about the Event monitors--I'm guessing they are a good product.

However, you might try going to a vendor store and do some listening.

If you buy monitors and don't like them, the return shipping is expensive.

If you search around this site, you will, no doubt, find pages of comments on the Events. But, going yourself and listening is the best test.

Happy Thanksgiving already.

I can't help as far as a comparison goes because I've never heard the tr's, but I have heard the YSM1. I didn't like them at all. It sounded like they were under water, they just had no clarity whatsoever.

Now, they are fairly inexpensive, so bang for the buck, they might be a good deal, but if it were me, I'd go another route.

I listened to the ST8's and the Event TR6's in a studio room at guitar center and I will say that the ST8's were doing it for me and the TR6's... well not so much.
