I got these Event Studio Monitors (the passive ones), 20/20 i think.... and in the back, where you input a cord to connect it to whatever you connect it to, there's a very weird looking input... it looks almost like an XLR input, but instead of three metal pieces sticking out, there are 5 in a star-like shape. What kind of cord is this? Any input will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks so much,
-Evan

Uh, oh... You got the ZLR connectors. They don't make those anymore and it's really hard to even find em used. Your screwed!

Just kidding. I think most monitors have combo jacks. I know mine do. try plugging a 1/4" cable in, or the female end of an xlr.
I'm not staking my rep on it, but that's how mine work.:p

You scared the crap outta me for a second!.....i'll try it, subtractor..... if it doesn't work, i'll try to put up a pic of it... thanks

Hey StringThing - Are you SURE you got the passive 20-20's ? According to Event's site, the passives have red and black 5-way binding posts, which would take a bare wire into each one, red positive. They claim that the 2020 BAS, the active ones, uses a combo XLR/phone jack, either balanced or unbalanced. Do your spkrs have a power cord? That would be a dead giveaway... Steve

Definitely Passive..... no power cord... although i do have a powered subwoofer w/ it... A BARE WIRE????? could you explain that to me a bit more? Thanks!.. i'll try to get those pics up as soon as i can..

Is there anything red on the back of the monitor? Is there something black just like it? If so, whatever kind of spkr wire your using attaches to those red and black posts. If not, post a pic.

Here they are!

Take a picture of the front... Are you sure those are event 20/20? That looks nothing like any speaker connectors I've ever seen, nor found in event's manual listed on their website...

Here ya go

What the f**k?
I just got a pair of 20/20 passives earlier this year and the plugs on the back are a couple of terminals that I believe are called "BANNANA" plugs.
Whatever that is on the back of your monitors, I have not a clue, also you seem to have a little grill covering each of the tweeters?? weird , are you sure they aren't "AVANT 21/21'S"
Sorry to be of no help

no a friend gave them to me (along with a buncha other recording equipment) because he is moving and didn't want to haul it all........ so it's possible there has been modifications...... Yeah... "What the F**k" that's what i was thinking! i've never seen anything like this before!

That looks like the Event Tria satellite cable connection, used to wire the sub into the 3-way system....

Those aren't the 20/20s, they're the TRIAs, which are discontinued......

Well, if that's what your workin with and you don't have the rest of it, or get those connectors, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to fix them up with posts or 1/4" or whatever. You could probably just use the same plate on the back.:)
