I own a pair of Event 20/20 biamplified monitors and when I mix (for example a hi hat) it sounds perfect in the monitors but when I record to tape and play it back it clips on me bad! And also this happens on other instruments where the harmonics are in a high range. It gets frustrating to think you have a good mix and go the car and it sounds like crap. Any suggestions.

If you're not hearing the clipping in the monitors, it's most likely that you've got the record level on the mastering deck too high. Also, check to see if you've lowered the sensitivity of the tweeters at the rear of the monitors. They can be adjusted. If your mixes are too bright consistently, turn up the tweeters. Same for the bass.

That's probably the best information I have rec'd on the Event 20/20. I had forgotten that you could adjust the highs and lows on the back to fit your needs. Since I live in an apartment I don't have sub woofers but I'm sure if I keep adjusting the knobs on the back I can tailor the sound to where it should sound pretty good without being to muddy. Is there a particular setting that is good to start with for both the HF and LF that you have experienced??
