Event 20/20 BAS VS Mackie hr824

Ive read they're both excellent monitors, but the Mackies are about TWICE as much as the Event 20/20 BAS. For double the money am i really going to notice a huge difference? Im serious about music, and i want to invest a lot of time and money into it. Im also thinking of going to school to be an audio engineer of some sort, workin a studio of some sort. So, if it would make a big difference i would be willing to save longer for the Mackies. But will i notice that big of a difference? 1100 Canadian for the Events, and 2200 Canadian for the Mackies. Anyone fill me in on this?

Monitors are very subjective. And very enviorment dependent..You should compare them side by side..IMHO..The Events have a whole in the mids which is very noticeable when compared to the{active} Tannoy Reveals which to my ears were more "even"..I listened to the Mackies at a diff. time, they seemed pretty good also..I'm going top A/B them with the Blue Sky sys...which is the way I'm leaning , the bottom end on the B.S's seemed to be a little tighter{sub in the system}.. I didnt hear a whole between the sub and satillites which I was expecting...But I've really got to listen a bit more...So there you have it ! Listen to as many monitors as you can and A/B them..Bring CD's of prerecorded and of stuff you mixed if you can...Good luck and Happy hunting!

Opps forgot.. listen for the "imaging" see how big the sweet spot is.Sit between them like you would if you were mixing and move you head around..See if you gotta sit like a statue or you can move around a bit before they fade out of the stereo image..Important if you want to place{pans} instr...also no stiff neck..LOL
