EV vocals mic or sm57 on bass drum

Which would YOU do:


an EV vocal mic on kick drum, with sm57 on snare?
sm57 on kick drum, with EV on snare?

the EV i picked up used, i think it's about a 100 dollar mic.

Try 'em both and see which one sounds better to you. I've used an EV PL-80 in kicks and it was great. I've used a SM-57 in kicks and it was great. Experiment. See what I mean?

i've been using the EV but it just hit me that maybe the 57 could work better.


with the EV - i am not really liking the results. If i turn it up loud enough to be heard when the mix is done, its a pounding, headache causing low end...lol and if i turn the low end down so that it doesnt sound like that - then it just dissappears from the mix completely.
if i keep it a good volume/freaq....i just can't hear it in the mix.

so - i'll be trying the 57 i guess.

i hope the EV is ok on snare.
