Essentials 5 VST Connections Input Busses

Hi,

How many VST Connection Input Buses does Essentials 5 and/ Cubase 5 allow?
I've upgraded my hardware to 12 channels and the 4 bus limit of SE 3 don't cut it no mo'

Also is there an upgrade path from SE 3 to Essentials 5 or Cubase 5?
