when i mix down digital audio from Pro Audio 9 and try to play it on Windows Media Player, or any media player for that matter, it won't play. WMP tells me it doesn't have the right codecs, and i can't even re-import it into PA9, it tells me it isn't a valid media type, but it is a wave file. It's extension is even .wav. i read on another thread that it must be 16 bit audio, but i think that's what it's set at. pleeeze help. thanks!

That sounds like you are trying to play a 24-bit wave file. WMP won't play 24 bit files.

What is your project set to (Options > Audio)?

When you export to wave, check all the dialog boxes and make sure you are exporting to 16 bit at 44,100 sample rate.

that's what i thought, but it is changed to 16-bit. i woder though, it says "Default for new projects". do i have to copy and paste everything over? god i hope not.

What version of Windows are you running? If Win XP you can right click on the .wav file and select properties. Go to the summary page and you can see what bit rate the file actually is (you might have to click the box for Advanced at the bottom of the page).

(You might be able to do this in some other versions of Windows also - I'm just not sure.)

nvrmind. once again, i am a complete and utter moron. u c, right in the tools menu, there is a little option that goes as such "Chnage Audio Format". maybe i won't be bald tomorrow.
