The hardest part of the recording prosess, for me,has been figuring out eq.Getting everything to be distinct yet blend together.I know that when something sounds good soloed it won't usually fit into the mix.My question is should I record my instruments the way they sound best and eq after everything is recorded or try to picture how it will fit into the mix and eq accordingly before hand.

Even better try to use mic choice/placement as a tool to avoid EQ. If you have an idea of the sound you are going for then try to get it as close to possible with just the mic.

EQ is a tool for when something needs a little touch up. If you record a crappy track and plan on fixing it with EQ you will usually be dissapointed.
