I read somewhere that some member usually likes to boost a little at a certain frequency for male voices and I know the sm7 has it's own sound

just wondering if y'all have a technique or certain frequencies you look at for the sm7

There is no real rule of thumb. My voice will sound different through an SM7 than yours will, and thus need different EQ'ing.

One of the pitfalls with getting EQ advice on a home recording site is that you get advice from people who don't record a lot of different vocalists, so thier signal chain and recording methods work great for them but might completely suck for you.

The more people and styles of music you record, the more you find that you just have to listen and figure out what yo0u need to do.

Depends on the song its in as well, sparse songs need more full sound, while as busy songs (metal, rock) need a harsher sound to cut through the noise

I have an SM7B. I mainly use it to record my own vocals. I don't apply any EQ other than removing some of the bottom end (around 100-120Hz). That's it. That and compression.
