EQ for acoustic guitar

I've noticed I have to cut alot of bass whenever i record ac guitar, usually in the 250Hz range. I've tried different placements and guitars still I always seem to have to cut some lows. Does everyone else have this problem? Is it something that is just part of recording ac guitar? btw its worse on fingerstyle songs especially patterns.

That's pretty common. You best mic position to avoid boomy low mids is proabably around the 5th-12th fret.

That's right about where it (boominess) usually resides . . . and no, it's not uncommon at all to cut right around that freq. range.

I usually find that a 3db cut in the 500hz range does wonders... Also, in the room I currently record, a slight cut in the 1,5KHz area is beneficial as well. If you want more brightness/frets, then boost a tad at about 4,5KHz.
