On my way home from the armory (I live 45 miles away from my unit's armory), I stopped off for new strings for an Epiphone PR 100 that I'd bought last month. Unfortunately (or "unfortunately"), instead of paying for the strings then leaving (a local trading post store), I decided to check out what guitars and amps they might have in stock. It wasn't until I was about to leave that I spotted the 12-string Epiphone ($250.00/including a tweed hard case), tried it out, and found out as I was sitting it on the counter, to pay for it, what the E is for...spotting the volume and tone knobs when I sat it on the counter. When I got it home and played with it some more, including plugging it into my Peavey TransTube 258 EFX combo amp (with all the FX turned off), I noticed that on certain frets the sound wasn't amplified.

I'm not necessarily in any hurry to get the pickup replaced, but what pickup is in the Epiphone PR 350-12E? Should I possibly consider going with another (better) pickup than the stock one, and if so, which ones should I look to get for it? Otherwise, I'm fairly happy with it, more since it's been 8 years since I've had a 12-string guitar (a Kamen-Montana 12 was stolen from me in '98), and I'll be even happier once I get the neck/truss rod slightly adjusted. It may have been 8 years since I've played a 12-string, but the strings honestly are a tad too far from the frets for my taste.

Once I get the neck/truss rod adjusted to my taste, then I can set about to find my notes (again) to play "Turn, Turn, Turn" and "Mr. Tambourine Man," both of which I haven't really practiced since the loss of my last 12-string. I was just happy that I still remembered enough notes to not butcher "Wish You Were Here," which is what I played for the test drive. :)
