i was at a music store today looking at gibson replacement pickups...wishing my gibson SG had chrome covers (i hate uncovered humbuckers) and the dude behind the counter told my he had covers for 15 bucks. they were epiphone...brand new...a set...lamenated in the pack. i asked if they would fit gibson 490's and he said yeah...any gibson or epiphone full size humbuckers. (on the package it said "fits most humbucking pickups")
my SG had a perfect setup on it. i had to take the strings off, take the bridge off, take the pickguard off. i tried to put on the 1st cover...it fit over the pickup fine but the screw holes were off just a hair. i can live with that. then i go to put the next one on and iit fit over the pickup fine too... .but this time the screw holes were WAY off....i take it off the pickups and compare it to the other cover and the holes are nowhere near the same alignment on the 2 pickup covers. useless peices of shit!!
now i see why people don't like epiphpone products...there is no attention to detail.
cheap ass garbage is what i got today.
