i want a nice buzzsaw kinda synth with sounds like the faint, which could i get this from and which is a better deal? thanks!

Both are good synths for this so I guess you should balance the pros and cons.

Micron Pros: Low maintainence, Quality Built, Awesome sounds.

Micron Cons: Limited Octave Range, Kinda limited to traditional synth sounds.

ESQ 1 Pros: Fore-Father of a Long Family Lineage (The TransWave synths), Quality Built (Like A Tank), Extensive Digital/Analog/Sampling Architecture.

ESQ 1 Cons: Older Synth (Higher Maintainence), Limited Polyphony.

My money is on the ESQ 1. There is one in my local music store now, and I'm seriously considering getting it. The ESQ 1's synthesis architecture is probably one of the most impressive to ever have been built (Perhaps only eclipsed by it's successors like the FIZMO). It is by far one of the most under-rated synths out there, and in my opinion deserves a spot in the limelight next to such classics as the DX-7, Wavestation, and even the Prophets. And it just looks impressive sitting on a keyboard stand (Micron: Not So Impressive Looking). If you have a chance to get one, I'd say get it.

I mentioned the Emu Performance Keyboards in your other post. Ensoniq and Emu have partnered up and Ensoniq has added the HALO to the Emu Performance Keyboard line up (Vintage keys, MK-6, XK-6, PK-6, HALO).

why dont you just go play them and see/hear?

I bet you'll like the micron better.

well i would buttttt the ensoniq is on e-fuckin bay. haha i hate having to turn to ebay. But i might as well just order the micron off like zzsounds or something, im sure i can get a free case with it somehow.

Im still leaning towards the micron just because its new, and im new to synths as well. i hope this is a good choice. eep

oh and also whats a good price for the esoniq? im thinking bidding 150 on ebay

$150 is reasonable. I wouldn't spend anymore than about $200 without really knowing it's condition. I've seen them sell for around $300-$400 in really good condition in the music stores.
