we don't need rest!!
I am interested in purchasing some mid field monitors for a control room about 20 x 15. All I can find in a decent price range are the JBL LSR series. Maybe some used 4311's?..can't seem to find anything else like some old URIE's, etc. Looking to spend 2 grand tops....any suggestions or leads?

20x15 isn't too much space to fill, but I think that JBL is the way to go in my opinion. I know this will sound rediculous, but the best direct fields I've ever heard are the jbl 4311's they have set up at the local tower records (I've mixed on mackie hr's and other good near-directs b4, so I'm not a complete know-nothing). I can't think of anything more revealing AND flattering than those beasts. If I ever had to buy beyond-nearfields I'd go for used 4311's (or one of the similar jbl's from that line) - sounds fantastic in the classical room, sounds fantastic in the rock room - even the crap-metal garbage they played through them sounded great - not bloated, not too bright or bass heavy. . . juuuuust right.

thats my 2cents.
