Do it right or dont do it
Hello, I cannot bounce my audios to MP3. In the past I could do that without problems but now an alarm goes that says:

"The MP3 option cannot be enabled because: Module initialization failed for MP3.bundle. The MP3 demo period may have expired"

So, is there any way to fix that issue? Thanks in advance!

Is there a file called mp3.bundle or something? It may have moved. Have you changed anything in your setup recently?

The mp3 option, is optional. You have to pay for it. Maybe you had a demo, and it expired.

It seems so but it's the first time I experimented that issue. I owned Pro Tools for a long time ago and never had that issue. Well, maybe I should go to the digistore to get the damn plugin.

Just an open question: Why mp3 is not free? Damn! :D

I wouldn't trust the mp3 option anyway, they don't give you any encoder options such as bit rate. I'd use a 3rd party one. The dB Poweramp one is very good, or Switch (for mac)

Because the Fraunhofer codec is patented. Digi has to pay a licensing fee to use it. If you didn't have to pay for the add on, they'd just tack it on to the price of your hardware/software.

yes it does. You can choose anywhere from 16kbps to 320kbps.

That being said, Switch is a great program (for both Mac/PC)

Pretty sure that if you use MP3 encoding in iTunes, it also uses the Fraunhofer codec - the same one as used in Pro Tools.
