Hi everyone, I was told I may find tghe answer to my nightmare here, I 've already been though a few forums without success...
I'm using Sonar2XL on a PC under XP with a built in card (sound blaster PCI) which I don't use for recording (whether I disable it or not, the problem remains) and a EMU APS card with KXdrivers in order to run under windows XP.
When I record a new audio track (vocals for example) all the other tracks(both midi and audio), unless I mute them, are being mixed down with the vocals... and the louder they are in the general mix, the louder they appear on that track as if I wanted to mix them all down together on that track
(e.g. can't get a clean audio track with just vocals , the wole mix will be there as well)
If anyone could help...

Here are some comments made by other people which have not solved the problem yet but maybe useful...

It SOUNDS like the ENTIRE mix output, along with the NEW audio, is being used as the input for the track!!
This is either a track/buss assign problem within Sonar, or in the setup of your soundcard.
Let's get Teacher, a Sonar user, (who does a GOOD job recording ), to help you out with the specifics, IF he doesn't mind!!

your problem makes absolutely no sense to me unless you have some sort of external mixer that is summing all your sounds to the 2 bus and thats what your sound card is recording, while you are trying to lay new vocals
other then that go to your windows volume control, properties, record, and make sure mic in is selected as record device and not WAVE in

Yes, if he RIGHT CLICKS the volume control on the 'Taskbar' on his computer, he can mute the other inputs in the computer's software mixer.
BUT, isn't there a 'Track Assign' in Sonar, where he might be assigning the 'Stereo Buss' to the new track, as well?
I don't know, having never even opened up a copy of Sonar, myself

set your input to Left or Right which eva input your mic is connected too.
but i'm not too familiar with mixing within Sonar cuz i mix externally. so the mixer functions of sonar aren't my strong points, but if i can't help you check this site out they'll be able to help u
