i have the 1212 and want to be able to record more things simultaneously.

how many microphones can you use at one time with the audiodock, and can each microphone be recorded as its own seperate track. I want to be able to record a full set of live drums, bass, 2 guitars and vocals...even if the guitars and vocals are used as scratch tracks.

I am running the emu 1212 through cubase sx3, 1.5G physical memory on a PC

Your title says 1820 so I assume you're getting 1820 soon?

I just got my 1820m a few days ago and was able to setup to record at least 8 mic/line inputs. If all you have is the audiodock, I guess that's the maximum. (Since 1820 has only 2 inputs with micpres, I simply use my mixer as micpre for all) If you get 1820M and have ADAT you may be able to get more inputs. (say, with Behringer ADA8000 you can have 8 more... that's 16 inputs, whoa!) I'm not an expert so don't take my word for it.

Yes, each microphone can be recorded as its own seperate track. The setup was a bit intimidating at first but after using their default multitrack patch setup everything falls in place. That's how I know you can use ADAT in addition to the audiodock to get more inputs. As a current 1212 user you may already know more than I do.
