I currenctly have a tascam us-122 that works fine, but I've been thinking of purchasing an EMU-1212m. My question is to you guys, which of the two will produce the best overall audio for my studio?

I believe the 1212m has better converters... But I also believe you will hardly tell the differance from the interface you have right now.

Two More Questions!

1. What is the sample rate of the us-122/1212m?

2. Can my us-122 be hooked up to a mixer, such as behringer UB2442?

1. should be easy to find on your own go to there website.

2. if you want to plug a behringer into your tascam... you can... I wouldn't. I believe the Tascam has 2 inputs for mics as well as phantom power. Plugging a mixer into it won't give you more ins and will add noise to your system IMO.

Okay! So one more question!

1. Exactly where will the mixer hook up to if not into my Tascam us-122?

I had a US122, but switched to the EMU 0404 and a MOTU 828mkII.

The EMu has 1/4 balanced inputs. So you can run your mixer into there. I run my mixer into a MOTU 828mkII. Then firewire to the computer. I also have a Emu 0404 that has the 1/4 inputs. I could run the mixer into there also or there only if I wanted.

This is taken directly from EMU web site regarding the 1212m:
Two 1/4" Balanced Inputs
24-bit/192kHz ADAT In/Out (switchable to S/PDIF)
24-bit/96kHz S/PDIF In/Out (switchable to AES/EBU)
MIDI In/Out
Firewire® Interface

Mixer has your inputs, Mics, instruments, etc. The main out of the mixer (or your choice of line out from mixer) goes to the desired inpute of the Tascam. If it is a stereo signal, it will go to 2 inputs. You then pan the channels in the application as desired. (Or hard left/right)
