greetings all. having been in the midi world for over 15 years, I'm just now jumping into the Audio world. Just purchased an E-mu 0404 with Cubasis VST. Problem is, I can't get the midi to work. All the cables test good, and I'm able to control other devices when not hooked into the computer.

I've also checked to make sure that windows is set up to use MIDI on this particular card. Cubasis says that there's no midi data being sent. I have not been successful in locating a place to define my keyboard or anything in Cubasis VST, but I did make sure that MIDI thru is set to on. I can't even get it to play the virtual sounds off the computer.

Any thoughts?

Great forum!

Click on the speaker in the lower right corner of your screen. Click options and properties. Your soundcard should appear as your mixer device. Make sure your midi is active on playback and record.

If that doesn't work, reboot your computer and check your BIOS settings. It's possible that your midi settings are disabled. You'll need to enable them.

So, just quickly to wrap it all up, the issue seemed to be that I still had some hold over Creative Lab drivers installed. After removing it all, all is well. Thanks for all the input.
