emo band feedback please?

I made a thread here not too long ago and noone ever responded with feedback. Anyways, since then my band has recorded another song called "Heartbeats" and any feedback about the recording/tips to make it sound better would be awesome.

I think this could be a really cool song, very catchy, the guitar parts work together and I like the vocal.

BUT, what on earth are you recording with, on and in? Is this all live with a couple of mics? be very interested to know how you recorded everything as I have no idea where to start with "pointers".

was wondering what "emo" was ......
 
I can´t tell you anything else than that myspace streaming sound like complete shit.
Use soundclick or something like that.

Oh I have something more after I listened to the wole: This ain´t emo, it´s just some bad rockpop.
 
i listened to heartbeats

seemed like there was too much bass in the 100 or so range.

the bass had little top end.

lead vocal had to much mid-high, not much high. i'm guessing it was through a dynamic.

the drums could come up a lot. (i'm guessing a guitarist mixed this) i couldn't crit them much since they're so back there.

the guitars could use a little cut in the upper high, and a little more mid-low.
 
Heartbeats is pretty rough. A solid minute of that repetitive intro is a bit much. The whole thing sounds like it was recorded in a practice room with one mic. Maybe it's the whole emo thing, but those vocals are pretty bad. Way too loud and way bad. From what I can tell the performance is decent. Yall sound pretty tight as a band. The mix is definitely rough on the ears.
 
It's all been said. Y'all can play.

I get the build up thing, I do it a lot. The song starts intense, it gets a little more intense, a break, and then more intensity.



Maybe start a lot quieter and use a little silence and space on the way in. It's just as much what you leave out as put in.

i like the lead guitar. (not the recording of it)

i also like the way the music is written

the music sounds like the first Thursday c.d., i think it's called "WAITING"
and some parts sound like the blue weezer album.

if you had a better recording and a different vocalist i could see myself playing your CD on a long drives. ( and I'm very critical when it comes to what i listen to)

but this is my opinion and my opinion doesn't count ass long as you and your fans enjoy it.
