I need some advice on some hip hop/r&b mixing techniques. I know its kinda a whole lot to cover but whatever advice or tips you can give it will be greatly appreciated. By the way in case you need to know here is a run down of the equipment i have.

Hardware
1. 2.2ghz amd turion x2, 2gb RAM
2. M Audio studiophile bx8a and dx4 monitors
3. M Box 2 mini
4. ART tube mp preamp
5. AKG Perception 200 large diaphragm condenser mic

Software
1. Ableton live 7
2 Reason 4.0
3. Sample Tank 2
4. A whole lot of MPC drum sounds
5. Pro Tools for vocal recording
N.B I use live, reason sample tank together wen making my beats i only use pro tools fir vocals.

Below is a list of some of my major problems.

1. My beats sound thin I jus cant seem to get that widenest and that phatness from my beats.

2. Vocals tend to sound thin too that suffers from a lack of widenest too. When I record the vocals and try to mix them they dont "sit down" in the beat they soun a bit separate from the beat I ideally want them to blend in with the beat so it doesnt soun like the vocals and the beat is separate.

All your advice and critcisms will be greatly appreciated. Thanks you all very much for all your advice and criticisms. Nuff respect!!

If it's really an emergency, then I would seek the help of a professional or call 911.

:D

Short of that, I think you should relax and take it easy. It takes a lot of practice and trial and error to get the hang of this stuff to where your stuff sounds good.

You might want to post an example of your stuff on the MP3 clinic and seek some opinions there. Otherwise, you're likely to get no better than a few guesses / stabs in the dark as to what may be of help to you.
