Hey guys, my computer's been bothering me every time I try to mix. The fan is kind of noisy that it effects the way I listen to my tracks and when I mix.

What is the best way to eliminate the noise besides putting it in a different room?

Thanks in advance ;)

Buy news fans.

I like Noctua fans, although most of the ones they recommend are great (and at good prices too). When I first did my computer it was absolutely silent - a year on and things have started wearing out a bit, but its still comparatively quiet to other computers.

Well thats what I did, I drilled a 5" hole in the wall and slid a piece of PVC in the hole and sent my weires through. Keyboard/mouse is usb had to get other longer cables.

So my cpu fan was out of control loud. I pulled it and went to put a quieter fan/heatsink on. The heat sink wouldnt line up with the motherboard holes. So I cleaned the old heatsink and fan and put new thermal compound on it and put it back together. The fan no longer screemed it's much much much quieter now. I think it just needed a better thermo bond from the CPU to the heatsink.

I know this sounds pathetic but have you cleaned the vent in front of the fan. If he vent is even partially clogged the fan works harder to pull in air and makes a lot more noise.
I know this because I complained to my comp manufacturer about fan noise & they told me to look at the back of he box - yup almost closed over with dust. A quick vac. & the machine was back to almost noiseless.
