Eleventh House - concept drama

Been a long wait to get a good vocal take on this one, but my buddy DJ pulled it off. Be warned this is a drama concept piece, runs about 7 minutes long. No formula 3 minute pop format here. This is AOR all the way, the kind of piece you would hear in the middle of a long concert. Had fun with the guitar rig on this one, added some trippy effects but tried not to make it sound too terribly spaced out, keep it sounding somewhat natural, not an easy line to toe.

Still getting my land legs working in Sonar, but I'm more and more impressed with the program on every tune. I only had to freeze one track to make this one play in its entirety, which is pretty good considering all the stuff I have going on here.

i'm gonna give this a listen tomorrow after work. i dig long song forms--it's what i do.

This warrants more comment than I have time for, but here goes: Wow!!

I love it. It held my interest all the way, didn't even feel long. Great texture & variety. And that vocal--worth the wait--just beautiful. Mix feels good, tight & clean.

Gonna listen some more and if I have anything of value to add, I will. In the meantime, great job!

Yeah, DJ did an excellent job on that voc. Nobody has ever nailed it before until now, though many have tried and fallen way short. Nice work, DJ! I wish I could sing half as well.....

I just got a bunch of new pedals for my guitar when I recorded that solo, that was a lot of fun. Couldn't get Rami plane tickets to my house, so I had to settle for EZ Drummer!

pretty cool. like pink floyd meets the eagles meets steely dan.

very tight performance--nice lead chops, and i especially like the keyboards.

mix sounds good to me. low end is super-clean, everything's well-balanced.

one small thing i noticed: there's a glitch/artifact at 1:08--don't know if that's in your original mix or if it happened somewhere in the conversion process.

In the mixdown to stereo. I missed it. It's not in the raw mix, but it was in the stereo wav and, therefore, in the MP3's. I re-recorded the wav and it's gone now. I think it was maybe an air conditioner kicking on. You must have downloaded the first MP3, the one out there now does not have the glitch.
