Are any of you selling downloads of your music?

I want to give my customers the option of purchasing my album by download (so they can have instant gratification. The album will run about 40 minutes. On my web host I have 500MB of storage space (minus the 50-75MB I need for samples and webpages) and 5 GB/month of bandwidth (I pay $1 per GB overage).

It needs to be easy to for non-technical users to burn to CDR.

Uncompressed:
ISO - 400MB
WAV - 400MB

Lossless compression:
APE (Normal) - 120MB

Lossy compression:
MP3 (320) - 92MB
MP3 (192) - 55MB

ISO is nice because its a single file but would take a long time to download. Any of the others require putting the files in order before burning to CDR. With MP3 I suppose I could distribute an M3U shove the whole set into a RAR. Would a typical user know what to do with it?

What are you thoughts?

thanks

I'm all about instant gratification (just ask any of my ex-girlfriends!) and I don't think I'd choose to download your CD over just purchasing it from a website, whether it be your own site, Amazon, CDBaby, whatever. Especially with fairly quick shipments.

To me, having to download a whole CD (which takes some time even with my broadband connection) and then put the tracks in order and burn it to a CD is anything BUT "instant."

However, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

By the way, please, for the sake of all mankind, take that "blink" tag out of your HTML. Blinking text is seizure-inducingly annoying, especially when the colors are hyperlink blue on pool table green! Yeeeowah! My eyes!

Yes. Provide them with mp3s from your site, on purchase of real media. They can listen to it right away, and will have the cd in their hands probably sooner than they would otherwise 'get round' to burning it.
