Yes, but the "reviewers" on MF are generally idiots with no qualifying experience or useful frame of reference. Everything is "awesome" if it doesn't blow up. Sad, but true

Wow, now I feel really stupid for ever having taken the time to write a review and share my user's experience with the next possible consumer! But I know what you mean. That's where critical reading skills come into play.
I was hoping for something from SoundOnSound or at least an actual audio mag of some sort, but these are totally off radar on legit sites as far as I can tell.
. . . and, of course, the lack of personal investment, vendor provided but undisclosed perks, and/or commercial and advertising interests of their publications would never come into play in
their reviews . . .but again, I know what you mean.
Since MF and Guitar center carry the same inventory, you could probably check the set out at a nearby GC. Another option is to call/email MF and let them know that, since these are instrument mics, that's the only way that you're going to use them, and see if they will waive the "no-mic-returns" for you, so you can audition them for 45 days. They did this for me on a previous purchase.
I don't own the mics in question but, from my readings about the set, (1)
the PL33 seems to be worth the price of the whole set and (2) the clips may have issues---but they're EV mics. You'll probably still see them on eBay 50 years from now.
