anyone have any experience with this particular mic? I have one from years ago. it was given to me. Haven;t used it in years, but its been in its case.

Any good for recording with? I know everyone has the shure sm257. I might sell this to buy a shure. but if it can do a similar job I'd just keep it.

thanks in advance.

I've never heard that mic. Why don't you try it and tell the rest of us what you think?

yeah, but that is too easy! ;~(])
OK will do. as soon as I get the 8 track. Still I wont know what to compare it to. will let you know.

katman, keep the 257. It's a great little mic. Really nice on vocals. I've heard an excellent album that used the 257 for vocals.

It also happens to be a great horn mic. I often use one on trombone.

Bottom line; Try it out and see if you like it. It's certainly worth considering.

I have an N/D 457... it seems pretty decent for some spots on drums... seems I rem my singer liking it better than a 58...

cool. thanks everyone. I will check it out when I get my recording gear. I remember buying the mic with the old singer back around '90. it wasn;t cheap, and we must have got it because it was OK. So I am glad I have something good here.

will post my feedback.

I have one of these and have successfully used it on vocals (good for screaming rock stuff), snare, and guitar amp (extra good here). Right now, however, I use it on the bass drum. Seems odd, I know, but it manages to capture all of the low end of standard bass drum mics as well as the high end presence and "click" without ever sounding muddy.

You can hear examples of this mic at http://www.mp3.com/37point5
I use it as the bass drum mic on every song, and as the vocal mic on "Say a Prayer".
