Really nice, man.

There's only one thing I'd like to hear, and that's even less reverb on the vocals. I know you didn't use much...

And there's a little bass timing problem at the very beginning of the song. Almost like somebody wasn't sure when to come in and got behind and then caught up. Doesn't last for long, but it was the first thing I noticed in the song, so I thought I'd mention it.

I really enjoyed your recording.

Doug,

I've been a fan of your picking for a few years now via banjo hangout. I gave it a listen on a small phone speaker and with decent headphones. The mix translates well in either case...so great job. There is nothing sticking out like a sore thumb...everything sits in it's space nicely. That is something I still have trouble doing in my own recordings. I like the relaxed feel, and anything Grandpa wrote is a good song choice. I thought the dobro and banjo playing was especially nice. I did hear a funny little timing thing at the beginning of the mandolin kickoff. It was kinda like the mandolin didn't kick it off with enough authority and you had to figure out where to compensate with the bass. I liked the reverb on the vocal.

Tracy Latham

Nicely played. My toes were tapping. Well recorded too. Thanks for sharing this

I liked it. It sounds good. I agree with Chris about the reverb. Sounds weird with this style of music, if that makes any sense. It probably doesn't, I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just envision a more "raw" sound with this genre. ??? Ok, I'll shut up.

Nice recording, great picking. :)

Enjoyed the song. The reverb didn't bother me, I think it puts a tiime stamp on the recording. There was a little blip on the word "Fame" in the first line.... sounded like gas. :) What's the beer of choice in Louisville?

Wouldn't mind hearing more songs from you. Thanks for sharing.

I really appreciate you guys telling me the truth about this stuff. I know there was a "catch up" on the intro. And the reverb I used was not my favorite. So I went out and for $38 bought Renassaince Reverb from Waves. There's a great reverb under Load > Rooms > Bedroom and adjusting that auxillary channed for the reverb just enough to get a nice more raw sound.. and it actually adds some stereo width to it which is nice.

Thanks
