Here's song I wrote with CNN on last night - it's supposed to have a loose, jam session-type feel to it. Thanks for listening...

Freedom is a funny word
In some parts of the world
The sky is not the limit
If you're a poor Egyptian girl
The vendor on the street
Or the father pumping gas
The mother pacing nervously
And looking through the glass

Chorus:
Egypt is burning
In the dead of the night
There's tossing and turning
In the towers of bright lights
30 years of waiting
Is about to be set right
Make peace with the ashes
Cause Egypt is burning tonight

Gimme some of that freedom
That you've been speaking of
I'll wrap it around my country
It will fit it her like a glove
Sunshine on the marketplace
In spite of what they say
The hell with the politicians
They can all just go away

Chorus: repeat

Camels and Mercedes
Riding side by side
Look up extreme inequity
And get back to me by five
You can work all your life
But you'll never see those riches
Gonna ride this revolution
And drive out those sons of bitches

Chorus: repeat

I suppose you've gotten teh Dylan comparison already...

Hey, I like the song. Definitely need to back off on the reverb. It puts your vocal and instruments in a totally different space. Plus, you just don't need it. This song can stand on its own without the added processing. It's got a good organic feel to it.

Not bad. Your vocal is like Dylan meets Grandpa from HeeHaw, and I mean that in a good way. You have an 'aged' feel in your tone.

Too much verb, not enough back beat. Good pickin'. Thanks.

Reverb makes it sound like the banjo is in the room with me and you're behind me with the rhythm section in the next room.
Lyrically this is a very good spontaneous reaction to events but is a little niave/in need of a little reworking.
A quick reading "suggests" that Egypt is in flames due to the revolutionaries - where as the burning & such have been perpetrated by agents of the ruling elite. There's also the otehr angle that a significant group amongst the protesters would set up a form of law and govt that would be anathema to most folk's concept of freedom. that said - there are such groups in almost all coalitions for change.
I like your vocal delivery & the melody.
Good job.
