Here's a four tune ep I've made on my Boss BR1600 over the last few weeks. I've made them up after listening to a bunch of old T-Bone Walker 78's and kind of got inspired. Really simple stuff. They've all been made the same way in the attic with a bunch of cheap mikes and all analog instruments. Hum and play the drum track, mostly brushes and no click. Record an acoustic bass with a microphone, put a guitar track on, maybe some organ lines, make up and record some lyrics 'in style' then plonk on a couple of guitar solos and I'm done. I was looking for that really old sound like on those 78's.

I called it Egg-Bone Rollers 'cause little miss seven made the egg people in the cover art and I reckon I needed to get '-Bone' in the title somewhere.

Anyway, here are the tracks...

Push the play button and they should go one after the other.

Pretty cool man . These have a nice loose natural sound to them. Guitars and drums sound great. The tempo does stray a bit here and there but given the process you describe that is not surprising. Vocals are captured well and have a fair amount of personality, but somewhat strained at times...not your typical blues singer voice. The recordings sound great to me though and the tunes are fun :).

I like them..i can hear the Oz in your voice which works well with this..well performed and recorded..the egg people gave me a laugh :)

This sounds really good. Love the guitar tones. Also like the organ.

Listened to the first two. Poached egg mama is o.k. Prefer the first one.

The vocals stand out from the rest of the mix to me. They don't quite "sit" to me. The music gels fine, but something about the vocals seems disconnected.
Technically, I can't offer a reason. Maybe they seem a little dry, not sure. It might be also.

I like to work quick also. Just go through each part once or twice and move on...try and capture the vibe before it becomes stale.
